PLUMP THE SKIN, MINIMIZE THE LINES

At the Jonathan Zelken, MD for Aesthetic Medicine, we have years of experience with the dermal filler calcium hydroxylapatite, and we specifically use Radiesse® dermal filler. Calcium hydroxylapatite is a mineral-like compound found naturally in bones, and it has been biosynthetically produced to create a lower risk of allergic reactions. This filler is commonly used in moderate to severe creases and can be used to create fullness of the cheeks and other facial contours. Sometimes, we refer to it as an “injectable implant”, because of its potential to remain in place without complete resorption.

Calcium hydroxylapatite is an injectable treatment that stimulates the body’s natural collagen.

About Radiesse

WHAT IS CALCIUM HYDROXYLAPATITE?

Calcium hydroxylapatite commonly produces a very natural result, doesn’t migrate and the side effects are rare. Because it is mineral based, and firmer than hyaluronic acids, it cannot and should not be used in the lips. In most other circumstances, it has a long safety record and has been used for many years. Results have been shown to last a year or more.

CALCIUM HYDROXYLAPATITE TREATMENTS AT THE JONATHAN ZELKEN, MD

At the Our clinic, our aesthetic team uses calcium hydroxylapatite to fill out moderate to severe creases, like nasolabial folds, marionette lines and frown lines to enhance fullness of the cheeks and facial contours and to improve volume in areas of facial wasting. It is Nurse Miki’s favorite for hand rejuvenation. Dr. Zelken still prefers fat grafting, but Radiesse is a close second.

HOW IT WORKS

The Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres are suspended in an aqueous gel carrier. When it is injected under the skin, it provides immediate results in volume and correction and continues to work by stimulating natural collagen production. As time passes, the gel is absorbed and the body metabolizes the the CaHA microspheres, leaving behind the natural collagen.
