Lip lift procedure, “live” to demonstrate patient experience from start to finish. Some parts sped up to reduce monotony. The entire procedure takes 30-60 minutes in awake setting. Featuring Dr. Jonathan Zelken, Board Certified Newport Beach Plastic Surgeon.
Pearls of lip lift
Ideal ratio between upper and lower lip height is 1:1.6-1:2
Lip should be 1/3 of way between sill of nose and chin
Ideal pout features a “cupid’s bow” enhanced by thickening called “white roll”
Ideal toothy show in a woman at repose is 4-10 mm
Philtral columns create a gentle dimple above the cupids bow
Layered closure is key, and take muscle out to create a pouty posture if desired
Can be performed awake, if so desired. As seen here, bleeding is minimal and the worst part is the initial numbing shot.
Scars can take up to 6 months to fade, shown here at 2 weeks.
Not one-size-fits-all, but I almost always leave 11-12 mm behind
Philtral column autoaugmentation is a slick move but must be done expertly and artistically.
